The Stump by Amelia Ott I used to be so tall. Now I am quite small. Birds used to land atop my head. Now all my leaves are gone and dead. Critters used to call me home, But now I am all alone. There are no green things to be found. I now lay huddled, close to the ground. I used to host a hive of bees, Along with many other trees. Now all the bees have moved away; To find another tree to stay. I used to dance along with the wind, I used to gracefully bow and bend. Now I just sit here all day long, Without my leaves' rustling song. So I'll remember the days that used to be, When I was a tall and mighty tree. -Amelia
